Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my house is in a conservation area?
Enter your postcode above. For the official answer, ask your council or read the local land charges search.
What can't I do in a conservation area?
Demolition and many external changes need planning permission, permitted development rights are narrower, and you must give six weeks' notice before work on most trees.
What is an Article 4 direction?
A council order that removes some permitted development rights in an area, so work that is normally allowed needs an application.
Is this a local authority search?
No. The LLC1 and CON29 come from the council (from £116 to £323 in the fee pages we read) and your lender requires them.
Does it cover Scotland and Wales?
No: the national planning data covers England.
What is in the £19 report?
Every designation at the postcode, nearby listed buildings, what each means with the law cited, local prices and what to ask before you exchange.
